Today (Tuesday) there will be a special meeting of the ministers of provincial education and the federal government to discuss the proposal to change the winter holidays in schools and other educational institutions in January, according to The News.
Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood will preside over the meeting. Changes in the provincial education system and the shift from winter to January to December are among the issues that will be discussed at the meeting, the report said.
The Sindh government has announced winter holidays at educational institutions from December 20 to January 1. According to them, schools and colleges in the province will remain closed from December 20 to January 1. Education activities will continue on January 3.
According to a Dawn.com report, a Department of Education official said the government wanted to postpone the winter holidays until January to continue ongoing vaccination programs across the country.
However, he said that the final decision will be taken up by education ministers, said the report.
