Sindh Bar Council secretary killing: Police suspect wife played a key role in the murder

Police arrive at the scene of SBC Secretary Irfan Mahar’s murder.
  • Irfan Mahar’s wife had husband killed for his properties, say police.
  • Police have arrested the deceased’s brother-in-law for involvement in his murder.
  • Police found ammunition, hats worn by the suspects and other evidence.

Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) suspect Karachi who killed Sindh Bar Council (SBC) secretary Irfan Mahar was plotted by his wife.

Sources privy to the development informed The News that CTD Karachi arrested the victim’s brother-in-law Akbar Mahar and accomplices Rahim Bux Mahar, Wajid Jakhro, and two other persons of Mangi and Lashari castes for having a hand in his killing.

The report states that Mahar’s brother-in-law is the main suspect in the murder and they think his wife, Sahibzadi, played a key role in her husband’s murder. The wife is still on the plains.

Initial investigations revealed that Sahibzadi wanted to control Mahar’s buildings. However, when the victim gave some to his brothers, Sahibzadi plotted to kill his brother, Akbar Mahar.

Sources have revealed that police have also arrested the Sindh Bar Council official, Extraordinary Secretary Parvez Memon, in connection with a similar case.

Akbar Mahar killed his brother-in-law Irfan Mahar with the help of his relative, Rahim Bux Mahar, and his associates, Wajid Jakhro and others, police said.

Police said they had recovered a shotgun, a 30-round pistol, a motorcycle used to kill Mahar, hats worn by the suspects, and records of Akbar Mahar and his aides staying at a hotel in Karachi.

Authorities have also received the Call Data Record (CDR) of the suspects.
